"the Lord did hear their cries...yet the Lord did not see fit to deliver them out of bondage." (Mosiah 21:15)‏

You (Aubrey) are a good example of one that does "submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord." (Mosiah 24:15) While a prisoner in Liberty jail, the Prophet Joseph Smith wrote: "let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God" (D & C 123:17).

Even though the Lord hears our prayers there are times He does not "see fit to deliver" us out of our situation (Mosiah 21:15). Sometimes our burdens remain the same, but we are strengthened. "...the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease," The end result was like you, "they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord" (Mosiah 24:15).

In speaking at a mission presidents seminar Elder Dallin H. Oaks said: “Faith in the Lord is trust in the Lord. We cannot have true faith in the Lord without also having complete trust in the Lord’s will and in the Lord’s timing. As a result, no matter how strong our faith is, it cannot produce a result contrary to the will of Him in whom we have faith. Remember that when your prayers do not seem to be answered in the way or at the time you desire. The exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is always subject to the order of heaven, to the goodness and will and wisdom and timing of the Lord. When we have that kind of faith and trust in the Lord, we have true security and serenity in our lives.” (Ensign, April, 2010, "The Atonement and Faith")
