Luna Mar Hotel & Dondo becomes a Branch!

This email is being prepared from the Luna Mar Hotel. Our water & power have gone out various times,
but now our generator which worked somewhat in the past is completely off. This afternoon we checked
into a hotel! The shower was great and tonight we should be able to sleep. Oh, Africa.....

Today, the missionaries found a chameleon.
(Elders Lynn, Ensaldo & Bender)

Interestingly, for whatever reason the older Mozambiquens are completely afraid of these chameleons.
They will run away if they see one and if they see someone touching one they go crazy, because they think
 that chameleons are deadly.

Last week we had our District Conference and mission Zone Conference. Elder Kevin S. Hamilton, of the Seventy, presided at the meetings. From the left is the mission president (Kretly) and his wife, sister Hamilton, Elder Hamilton, Sandi Dille, Larry Dille and Us:)

Yesterday was Mom's birthday and thanks to your good sister Brooke and Mom's good friends she had a great birthday!

Mom was awakened by Lisa Mott, Megan Clark, Lisa Davis, Pauline Henderson and a few others that had stayed up until midnight to face time with her. She was completely surprised and loved it.

Then in the afternoon Brooke sent Mom a 4 minute video she had made comprised of photos from the children, grandchildren and many many friends. Up until the power and water went off it was a great birthday!:)

Hopefully, we will be able to still eat the large shrimp/birthday meal we purchased yesterday but were not able to finish cooking.....

On Saturday, February 1st, Mom and I spoke at a district leadership meeting and then at our monthly In service for Seminary & Institute teachers. We were informed the night before that we would be providing a 45 minute training meeting.....

Both meetings were well attended. 7 or the 8 Branch Presidents were there, together with about 15 teachers. The power was off the entire time and we were all pretty hot and tired by the end. Mom made some delicious cake together with peanut butter sandwiches. There were no left overs....

Last Sunday at District Conference, which was attended by about 1,100 people, Dondo was approved to become a Branch !! Now the work begins, to help them fill their callings and establish the Church more fully. Should be fun!!

I love you,
