YM Camp + Song Practice‏

This past week from Thursday - Saturday was the first ever
Beira District Young Men's Camp!

Due to some concern for safety they held the camp at one of the
Churches (Manga 2).  There were 180 young men in attendance.

Here is a photo of the good District President Camalizene,
after he has passed out ties and blankets which were supplied by
 LDS Charities.

The young man directly above on the left is Simão Domingos M., he helped us in our various moves, has learned to play the piano and is an all around great guy without any family support. I think he is the only member of his family. He has attended a type of trade school to learn how to build with concrete blocks.

The District YM President is a married man, but his counselors are both single young men. The counselors were responsible for buying all the food for the camp. We went with them on three occasions to transport the various purchases. Here they are buying 30 grass matts which are used to sleep on. They cost $1.50 each.

Here is Mom leading the Elders in song practice preparing for a Christmas program tomorrow, December 15th and again on December 22nd.

While walking on the beach yesterday, we found what appears to be a tail from some type of fish, perhaps a very large sting ray. It had a strong dead fish smell....

There are very few signs of Christmas here. We have a 3' tall artificial tree that Mom has decorated with a few ornaments + a Christmas stocking she found somewhere....with the weather in the mid eighties, this is definitely not our typical Christmas setting. So far we have not seen any Christmas lights.

I love you!
